More and more of my clients are requesting blogs, and I always recommend Wordpress stand-alone blogs (Wordpress.org). Why?
Because a Wordpress blog can be added as another page to your web site (or can actually be the web site) and the blog traffic helps lift your web site up in search engine rankings.
I also like Wordpress stand-alone blogs is that they are very SEO-friendly and you can customize practically every part of the blog, including the appearance, also known as a “theme.”
This theme (above) is called Infinity and I use it for my Content Writers and SEO Consultants web site to display my web site work only. You can find it at SmashingMagazine.com.
The Lifestyle theme is from RevolutionTwo.com.
It used to be free, but now they charge $59.95 for the basic package or $199.95 for a larger package, which includes different variations of the theme. I use it for my Online Weekly Health News blog.
What i like about it is you can place three rotating images/stories at the top. I put my headline stories up there, the ones that i think will get the most interest.
You can also add stories below which all fit into the designated categories. Please note, Britney Spears is not included, heh.
Butter Blog Movies is my movie blog. It’s more like a web site with links and video players
The theme is called At The Movie and can be found at QualityWordpress.com.
There’s lots of great and free Wordpress themes at QualityWordPress.com.
Another great web site to find some great Wordpress themes (and more) is PerfumeBlog.com.
Also check out Woo Themes, some are pay and some are free.
For my news video blog, NewsVideoClip.TV, I bought Jason Schuller’s Video Elements theme. It was only 50 bucks, and I did make some changes, but really like the design.
You can find this design and others at jason’s web site Press75.com. His blog are for sale, but they’re among the best video blogs out there.
If you want a free video blog theme, then try Videographer (not pictured). The only limitation is that it only works for with YouTube videos.
