Michael Allen is a creative and versatile writer whose background includes TV, print and the web. Mr. Allen started his career in Washington D.C. as a video editor for WRC TV-4 and NBC Nightly News. In addiiton to his editing duties, Mr. Allen also started writing news stories. 

Mr. Allen then moved to Los Angeles where he worked as a news writer and video editor for KNBC News in the second-largest TV market in the country.  

He covered the O. J. Simpson Trial and numerous local stories. He worked under the pressure of 3 to 4 live newscasts a day.

Next, Mr. Allen segued into entertainment and worked as a scriptwriter for five television series on Nickelodeon, Fox Family and MTV. Mr. Allen also co-wrote a King of the Hill book based on the popular Fox TV series.

Following the decline of the TV animation boom, Mr. Allen co-wrote two game show pilots, one for Warner Bros., the other for Fox.

When Reality TV greatly reduced scripted shows, Mr. Allen turned his focus to print.




He wrote medical newsletters, press releases, brochures, catalogs, packaging copy, ads, etc.


Mr. Allen also wrote copy for two award-winning campaigns: HabboHotel and OnAbout Wine.






He also worked as a contributing writer for numerous publications, including Reader's Digest.

Later, Mr. Allen became a department editor for a national publication with a circulation of 500K.  In that position, he managed budgets, hired freelancers and created editorial calendars.  He wrote articles about US soldiers exposed to depleted uranium, Diebold voting machines and the cocoa slave trade. 

After cutbacks at that publication, he became the managing editor of a Los Angeles-based publication (50k circulation) and website.  He wrote and edited stories, hired and supervised freelancers, worked with marketing departments, created editorial calendars and managed budgets.


Noticing the decline of print, Mr. Allen decided to make the Internet his next media home. He wrote two career/salary blogs for Payscale.com: Salary Stories and Ask Dr. Salary (ghostwrote 75%). 

At Payscale.com, Mr. Allen learned the art of SEO, keyword search and marketing via social media.


Mr. Allen went on to write content for numerous web sites including Mahalo.com, Degrees.Info, HowStuffWorks.com, AbsoluteWrite.com and ConsumerSearch.com. 

He also co-wrote three popular e-books: How I Got The Gig, Pets Across America and the Armchair Reader: The 2nd Annual.


Today, Mr. Allen is the editor/writer and resident SEO expert for bestselling author Stephen J. Cannell's web site.  

He created a monthly newsletter campaign targeting more than 8,000 subscribers and created viral marketing online ad campaigns for two New York Times' bestsellers. 

Mr. Allen is also the editor/writer and resident SEO expert for two entertainment news web sites owned by celebrity journalist Ross Crystal: TalkBytes and Showbiz Express.


Additionally, Mr. Allen provides SEO and web content for numerous freelance clients including:
  • Creating a viral marketing online campaign for the Knight Ridder News Challenge

  • Creating a viral marketing online campaign for the entertainment company Gigmasters

  • Writing scripts for animated instructional shorts for the 2008 Summer Olympics in China

Mr. Allen also created a nationwide web site to help low income and homeless people find free medical care, social services, financial help, shelters, food pantries and legal help. 

In five years, the web site has received (and answered) over 8,000 emails and helped thousands more.  

In recognition, Mr. Allen received a letter of thanks from the late Congresswoman Julia Carson (D-Indiana). Ms. Carson's dream was to eradicate poverty through her "Bringing America Home Act."
